Provironum is a modified form of dihydrotestosterone. Due to the addition of a methyl group to carbon 1, this drug is different from dihydrotestosterone, which protects the hormone from metabolism in the liver when administered orally. In oral tablets Primobolan (metenolone), the same structural modification is applied. Already after the first dose of the drug, alkylation by 1 position slows down the hepatic metabolism of steroids, although to a much lesser extent than with c-17 alpha alkylation. Mesterolone is an androgen, as well as dihydrotestosterone, and its anabolic activity is manifested at a weak level.
Chemical formula - C20H32O2.
The full chemical name is 17beta-hydroxy-l alpha-methyl-Salfa-androstan-3-one l-methyl-Salfa-dihydrotestosterone.
Mesterolone is sufficiently resistant to disintegration, thereby achieving a therapeutically useful level in the blood, even though this drug has a much lower overall bioavailability than the 17 alpha-alkaline steroids, which are administered orally. Provironum has a period of rapid recovery in muscle tissue to inactive diol metabolites, where the concentration of the enzyme 3-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase is quite high. Do not think that the weak anabolic nature of this compound blocks androgenic receptors in muscle tissue, thereby reducing the beneficial effect of other steroids, which have a more powerful potential for building muscle. In fact, Provironum actually affects the activity of other steroids, turning their higher percentage into an unbound, free form, due to its unique, almost identical affinity for plasma proteins, such as sex hormone binding globulin.
Athletes use Proviron during intense preparation for a competition or during a weight loss diet to increase the level of androgens, as well as due to its ability to bind with aromatase enzymes, thereby preventing them from converting testosterone to estradiol as antiestrogen.
